This

What is this?

Nope.
Guess Again.

It’s a Piece of my Childhood.

I was a lucky little girl and I have happy memories of my childhood. I grew up on Oak Street in a small town called FRUITPORT. Most of my friends were boys (Ya, don’t ask me). One of my bestest buds was my neighbor, Jeff Rohm. He was obsessed with the Dallas Cowboys. I distinctly remember the rainy day, when he peeled the “MIAMI DOLPHIN” stickers off of this and painted the “DALLAS COWBOY” stars.

Jeff and his family moved away to Ohio when I was 11. It was a very sad day. For some reason, this piece of childhood got left behind. I don’t remember the circumstances. I simply know that when I married my husband in 1995 – THIS came with me. Every time we moved, or every time he cleaned the shed, or every time he cleaned the garage – Dan would ask:
“WHAT IS THIS THING?”
“Seriously, Kristie, WE DO NOT NEED this!!”
“Why do I have to keep it in the shed??”

And every time, I simply answered:
“Dan – It’s a piece of my childhood, we’re keeping it

So, like a nice guy that he is, Dan would ONCE AGAIN – hang it up for safe keeping.

Until last week.

Last week, I reconnected with my old friend, Jeff (thanks to the miracle of FACEBOOK)

Jeff received a package last Thursday with a piece of my childhood in it.

Because, let’s face it – it was really a piece of HIS childhood.
I just happened to share this particular piece with him.

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!! The minute I saw the picture, I thought of Jeff!! How weird is that?... a quick picture and our wonderful God created brain brings us right back to a time so long ago. It didn't register at just HOW YOU would have it. I can see Tony and baby Andy out in the front yard on Oak street learning how to 'hike' the ball and run out for a pass =-) You, of course, were the 'cheerleader' (stomp, clap, stomp, clap - we worked on that move alot!!!) Man....those were the days!! Good times.........good times! Love you , Mom
ps. GO Dallas!!!!!

Jeff - if you read Kristie's blog, you were a GREAT influence on my two boys.........THANKS!

(We still have the 'Clipper' article named, "YOUTH SAVES NEIGHBOR!" and get it out every once in a while and smile :) You're holding Andy in your arms with Tony standing proudly next to you with that HUGE branch crashed on our Chevette and garage roof. Tony STILL tells the story of how you grabbed Andy and ran before the branch fell on you all! What a miracle childhood can be! I pray your life is full of JOY!!!

Are you still rooting for the Cowboys???!!!!
