Story of the week - (When you become best friends with a dentist)

Let me tell you a story.

One day last December, we were enjoying our family membership at Norton Pines Athletic Club. As you know, my husband is very outgoing. For years I've teased him, "You could make a best friend in an elevator!" Well, last December, that is pretty much what he did. He saw a guy across the room at Norton Pines. He said to himself, "that looks like a cool guy."
He then walked up to him and said, "You look like a soccer player-I need a soccer player for my men's team."
Elias said, "I've been looking for a soccer team!"

And the rest is history.

They are two peas in a pod - with their ADD attention span, and love for life.

So, what happens when you become best buds with a Dentist?
1. You become very conscious of NOT eating candy.
2. For some reason you decide that you need to eat and drink healthier (ok, at least when he's around).
3. You feel very guilty all the time for not flossing, as you don't want to disappoint your friend.

AND - (most importantly, today)

4. You get the braces you always wanted and never had.

Interestingly enough,
Elias is a Dentist-
He is not an Orthodontist-
but the other Dr. in his office is -
SO -
He needed a "test dummy" and I needed "braces" -
Yes, ONE of us is CRAZY!
I haven't figured out which one, yet.

Here he is getting a CRASH COURSE in "How to put on braces" (this happened 2 minutes before he came in to 'start' putting them on me - Thanks to AnnClaire for SNEAKING this pic)

Here he is putting them on
Here he is asking if they were put on right - (no comment)
Not my finest moment, but you all will see me sometime, anyway.
(and of course, he looks like a Dr. off of a Soap Opera)

The finished product. Luckily, I only got the top ones on today!

It appears my smile will change for at least a year. For some reason, the only thing I'm worried about is "singing" in church. I kept asking, "Can I still sing?"

I will allow any "current name-calling words" as comments on this post ONLY!!

Elias called me "am-track" !

Thanks, Elias - I still love you!

That is such a cool story. Braces changed my life, as a kid. Cool your friend can "practice" on your teeth. What a cool idea. Braces are so much "cooler" than they used to be. Congrats!

WOW!!! I didn't know you were getting braces!!! Good luck!!!! I think the hardest part is trying NOT to scratch up the inside of your lips and cheeks!
Tell Elias you have an aunt that will be his test dummy ANYTIME!! ;)
