My highschool sweetheart

I married my best friend.
I married my soulmate.
I married my love for life.

but,
I also married my highschool sweetheart.
With that comes extra-special STUFF.

Tonight I had to retrieve an object out of the crawlspace. As I climbed out from under the house, some small baskets caught my eye.
Tyler - "Mom, what is that stuff, why are you taking all that out of the crawlspace."
Me - "These are all the love letters your dad wrote to me."
Tyler - "How long ago?"
Me - "A very long time ago."

Because I am feeling sentimental, I thought I would share part of one.

Kristie,
It's been a while since I wrote you, and I'm gonna write you now and tell you how much ... I love you.....Infinity....Infinity.....Infinity....Kristie, there is so many dreams I have for you and I, Katie, and whoever else might be part of our family by then. (It would be nice to have a little boy, but either will do)!
I think about what kind of house we will have. Will it have a nice yard with a playground, for our beautiful kids? Will we have a couple dogs that will run in a creek and play in the back yard? Will we have a fireplace to sit in front of and warm our feet or drink from our wine glasses? Well, Kristie, I know for a fact that any dream you or I have will come true, because between the two of us, we can, will and do - do anything. Because with the love we both have for each other, we have what it takes to do anything we want.............

Thank you Lord, for giving me a husband that has always believed in 'US'. And who is dedicated to making sure 'US' is always following our dreams.

Eyliana's very fun day!

Today, Eyli and her class went to the ONE ROOM SCHOOL HOUSE in Spring Lake. It was very exciting for all of the fourth graders. Especially a 4th grader with Eyli's personality! She insisted that she could not wear her CROCS (because they didn't have them in 1895). She insisted that she pack her lunch in a basket, and wear braids in her hair. Here are some pictures of her and her friends before they left for the day!

They mostly take after their dad....

Lately, I often find myself saying these words:
"Ya, well they may look like me, but they mostly take after their dad"

Kaitlyn and Tyler thought it would be a great idea to spend their day chasing wild turkeys............

Maybe I'll have some luck with the youngest one?

But, he's only 12......

Tyler attended his first "semi-formal" dance last night.
new clothes
new haircut
the flower for the girl
everything.

What happened to my little "Ty-Ty" ???

My little "Ty-Ty" wasn't very happy that mom "stuck around" to get photos....

I was glad to see he took a small break from the girls to hang out with his cousin....

Fiddler on the Roof, Jr

I'm hoping this kid will make me millions someday.....

Tyler made his musical debut this weekend in 'Fiddler on the Roof, Jr.' as Perchik, the student.

Here are a few photos, and don't miss the movie at the end - his vocal solo, and his "asking her to marry him" scene!

My baby is in highschool......

Last week was PARENTS NIGHT for the JV Soccer team - as you can see, I am missing from the pictures :( - as parent's night was the EXACT SAME TIME as Tyler's Opening Night for the Musical, 'Fiddler on the Roof'!! It's a bummer that FUN events in your kid's lives happen AT THE SAME TIME.

Katie has had a GREAT soccer season, it helps that one of her COACHES is her cute dad. She often plays Left Forward, as she has a good left foot, and has scored many goals this season. The JV team has a great record, and has only lost 2 games all season! Go Trojans!!

Appreciation

Dear WMAAA Staff –

People often tell me, “You have the greatest kids – they are just cool kids – you and Dan must be great parents”.

Today, I’m GIVING credit where credit is due.

If I’m good at “raising” kids – then ALL OF YOU deserve just as much recognition. Over the past 10 years, almost all of you have done something to TOUCH my kids’ HEARTS, or REACH their MINDS.

Thank you for raising my kids to have confidence and character. Thank you for teaching them that learning = FUN. Thank you for giving them a community that accepts them for exactly who they are.

I would really like to thank you by paying each of you 1 million dollars.

However, I work at a school.

So, the COLDSTONE cake in the lounge FRIDAY @ 11:15 is for all of you as a VERY small token of our appreciation for what you have done to impact our children’s lives.

YOU are VERY much appreciated!

Love,
Kristie (and Dan) Cook

respect

Re-spect [ri-spekt] -esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence of a person, a personal quality or ability, or something considered as a manifestation of a personal quality or ability: I have great respect for her judgment.

How do you offer respect to someone you don't respect?

Spring

For Kristie,
Spring Means...

Soccer, Soccer, Soccer - All the time, every day, non-stop......I have always said: The perfect Spring Day is watching a soccer game without a coat on.

Love, Love, Love - My husband falls in love with GRASS. I literally had a conversation with him last night, where he made this comment - "you just don't understand how important it is to get the sod down on the ground, grass is IMPORTANT". (My comment back - "Do you actually love GRASS more than me?")

Dirt, Dirt, Dirt - Landscapers track in DIRT. I just swept my house, and filled up an entire bathroom garbage can with DIRT. (Landscapers that own LITTLE dogs that dig - not helpful for the DIRT situation)

Questions, Questions, Questions - with no decisions. Why does Spring always bring change? Why is change so hard to accept?
